We are currently plotting our course West, with many excellent stops along the way! Lots of camping, couch surfing, music festivals, and even a yurt in Oregon will be our temporary homes as we enact our version of compassionate manifest destiny!
Our new goal is to land in the Berkeley area in the last week of July. We're staying with friends for a few weeks while we search for housing. Russell is going to fly back to NC to get his Jeep and the cats, then return on a much faster route to the Bay Area.
August 1st is now our estimated move-in date at a new place!
Russell starts school in late August, so we'd like to be settled by then. So excited to get there!

What we hope for:
For the past couple of years, Russell and I have wanted to shake up our lives, find the next step of the path, and embark on a new and exciting journey. Adding Orion to our lives slowed our momentum down a bit, but now that he's growing strong and we're used to our new roles as parents, we're finally ready to take the plunge.
We are seeking our tribe and new ways of being. We're a happy, healthy family, but we're looking to be more so. We want to be more active, play outdoors, find new ways to express ourselves and to connect with people socially.
We're committed to homeschooling Orion, and daily find new ways to introduce him to this big world of ours.
We're compassionate left-wingers who are open-minded and curious about life and its inhabitants. We're eco-friendly and looking to become more so.
We love music and dancing, music festivals, performance & expressive art, and love itself. We attend Burning Man yearly.
Russell has experience working at an organic farm, and would love an opportunity to share the labor and love of a home garden. (Sachi would like to learn to be better with plants in general...)
We do not use tobacco. Neither of us drink to excess - indeed, we drink rarely if at all. We love gathering socially, sharing meals, bonfires and cook outs, etc. but do not bring the wild party home.
We love animals of all sorts, though are definitely more 'cat people' than anything else. Russell wants chickens in the worst way...
We love to read. We watch minimal TV, and that via Netflix or Hulu - we don't have cable. We're Mac-dependent. I'm hoping to 'unplug' more in the future! We do not play video games and hope to keep Orion from becoming hooked on them as he gets older.
Orion is a fun baby! As babies go, he's a very mellow, social, fun little guy.

We plan to arrive in California initially in early July (aiming for the 9th). Sachi and Orion will stay while Russell flies back to get the other car and the cats. He'll return by the end of July and we'll all be there full-time from then on.
We have two vehicles.
We have some furniture; mostly bedroom stuff and a couple of bookshelves. The bulk of the 'stuff' is made up of Sachi's sewing stuff and creative equipment.
We have two bikes and some camping gear. We will need some storage space.
We'll need two rooms. One for us to sleep in (baby included), and a work space for the sewing equipment.
